Oculus Rift
What is it? What does it do? Ever hear of it? Yeah,
me either. I can't say that I am surprised that technology has
evolved to this. This is virtual reality on another level, mind you I
am not a gamer so the allure of it is not there for me, but if you watch
the short clip it's not only for gaming.
It touches
base that it can be used in different fields such as;
school,doctors,sports. In the medical field doctors can simulate
procedures in 'training mode'. As surprising as it may be considering
they have no experience in gaming, Facebook owns Oculus. The video
states that reading the book 'Ready Level One' will give you the
understanding as to the level of immersion and not just for gaming. Innovative for gaming or not, it may not be just for gaming.
As cool as this technology is it makes me wonder, how much more detached are we going to become as a society? Everyone is already lost in their devices that this is another avenue to lose oneself from reality. Of course my son is all about wanting one, but it will be just that, a want.
