Mirror, mirror on the wall...Tell me what today's events are...

Imagine getting ready in the morning thinking that you still have 30 minutes before you have to leave for work. All of a sudden your bathroom mirror tells you that traffic has changed from 37 minutes to 62 minutes. Forget that stop at Starbucks that you had planned on making before work! You need to get on the road asap! In addition to traffic, imagine if your mirror could also let you know what your schedule looks like for the day, what the headline news are, or what the stocks are, all while getting ready for work, without ever turning on the tv or picking up your phone. Enter MirrorMirror, a mirror that can not only display your reflection, but also all the things that are important to you.

MirrorMirror is a prototype that was created by a team of students from College of Science and College of Engineering at Purdue University. Using facial recognition, the mirror has the ability to display information specific to that particular individual's needs. The mirror can easily be customized to show you the time, weather, your calendar, emails, game scores, traffic patterns, and social media posts. MirrorMirror will allow you to see all of that information, right in front of you, without ever picking up your phone.

This mirror could be in your house very soon. The team of students from Purdue will be hard at work this summer to mass produce MirrorMirror and hopefully the public will get to see the finished product sooner than later!

  1. Marta,

Thank you for the information on this great technological tool. What would be the cost of installing something like this at home and how difficult would it be to manage?

  2. Hi Ric,

Unfortunately, this is only a prototype at this point and pricing information is not available. It's supposed to be very easy to set-up and manage.

  3. I love this idea, especially the traffic and weather. I live in a large city and traffic is always a problem. A little reminder that traffic is getting worse would be helpful. Top news and my calendar would be useful as well.

  4. Great concept! will be interesting to see what the price tag on this is once in the market and not just a prototype. Wonder if it will have the ability to 'recognize' multiple faces; different people in the home?
